সূরা আন-নাজম আয়াত ২৩ (৫৩:২৩) — Surah An-Najm Verse 53:23
إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّآ أَسْمَآءٌۭ سَمَّيْتُمُوهَآ أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَـٰنٍ ۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَمَا تَهْوَى ٱلْأَنفُسُ ۖ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّن رَّبِّهِمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ
উচ্চারণ: in hiya illā asmāon sammaytumūhā antum waābāukum mā anzala l-lahu bihā min sul'ṭānin in yattabiʿūna illā l-ẓana wamā tahwā l-anfusu walaqad jāahum min rabbihimu l-hudā
প্রচলিত বাংলা অনুবাদ: এগুলো তো কেবল কিছু নাম, যা তোমরা ও তোমাদের পিতৃপুরুষরা দিয়েছ; আল্লাহ এগুলোর জন্য কোনো প্রমাণ নাযিল করেননি; তারা তো কেবল ধারণা ও নিজেদের ইচ্ছার অনুসরণ করে; অথচ তাদের কাছে তাদের রবের পথনির্দেশনা এসেছে।
Conventional English Translation: They are not but [mere] names you have named them - you and your forefathers - for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow not except assumption and what [their] souls desire, and there has already come to them from their Lord guidance.
